Volkswagen’s compact crossover, the T-Roc, has embraced its darker side with a new trim level named the Black Edition.
Available in the UK from £23,750 (equal to $29,016), £2,310 ($2,822) more than the entry-level model, it builds on the SE spec and adds a host of black elements, such as the grille trim, side mirror caps and roof rails. It also features rear privacy glass, 18-inch ‘Arlo Black’ alloy wheels and LED headlamps.
The theme is continued in the cockpit, with piano black dash pads and black roof lining. The multifunction sports steering wheel and gearshift lever have been wrapped in leather with grey stitching, while the footwell illumination and ambient lighting complete the package.
Throw more money at Volkswagen and they will unlock other features for your T-Roc, such as the Vienna leather upholstery, ‘Beats’ audio sound pack, sports suspension and other equipment available across the range. These can be added up on top of the standard equipment that includes electrically heated and foldable side mirrors with integrated puddle lamps, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control and smartphone integration.
The latest addition to the T-Roc family is available in ten exterior colors, including Flash Red, Energetic Orange, Ravenna Blue, Turmeric Yellow and Deep Black Pearl, with the latter giving the SUV an all-black look. Two-tone exterior combinations are also available.
Powering the small crossover is a standard 1.0-liter TSI gasoline engine that makes 113 HP (115 PS / 85 kW). Those who put many miles on the odometer can order the 2.0-liter TDI diesel, which pumps out 148 HP (150 PS / 110 kW).
