The 2021 Ford Bronco Sport leaked out earlier this month when undisguised pictures surfaced online.
Now, we’re learning more about the model as the baby Bronco has been added to Ford’s ordering system.
Juggernaut Performance posted a series of images on Facebook and they reveal an assortment of new details about the upcoming crossover.
2021 Bronco Sport (baby one based on Escape) added to Ford order system (NOT ABLE TO PROCESS ORDERS YET) with trim…
Starting under the hood, the listing shows the Bronco Sport will be offered with 1.5- and 2.0-liter EcoBoost engines that are connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Of course, this isn’t too surprising since the Bronco Sport is based on the Escape. In that model, the three-cylinder EcoBoost engine produces 180 hp (134 kW / 182 PS) and 177 lb-ft (240 Nm) of torque. Likewise, the 2.0-liter four-cylinder develops 250 hp (186 kW / 253 PS) and 275 lb-ft (372 Nm) of torque.
While the Escape is offered with front- and all-wheel drive, it appears the Bronco Sport will be AWD-only. It’s also interesting to note the model has a 105.1 inch (2,670 mm) wheelbase which is 1.6 inches (41 mm) shorter than the Escape. That effectively splits the difference between the Jeep Renegade and Cherokee.
Since we already know what the model will look like, we’ll focus on equipment. The Bronco Sport is slated to be offered with 10 different exterior colors ranging from Area 51 to Shadow Black. Customers will also have the option of selecting between a black or gray roof.
Ford will also offer a number of different variants. These are slated to include a base model and First Edition as well as Badlands, Big Bend, Outer Banks trims.
In particular, the Badlands variant will have body-color bumpers and body-color exterior door handles. Inside, we can expect a leather-wrapped steering wheel and heated front seats with power adjustment. Other niceties include a dual-zone automatic climate control system, a wireless smartphone charger and a six-speaker audio system.
It also appears that Bronco Sport will have 17-inch wheels and at least three different upholstery options. Leather will be available on higher end variants, while lesser models will apparently get fabric seats with Active Orange or Area 51 accents.
The 2021 Ford Bronco Sport will be unveiled later this year, but the exact timing remains a mystery.
Thanks to Juggernaut for the tip!
