2020 Skoda Rapid For Russia Teased Again In Official Images

Axed in Europe, the Skoda Rapid will continue as a five-door liftback in Russia.

Skoda has dropped two new official renderings of the upcoming 2020 Rapid subcompact model for Russia.

While the first CGI released in October only showed the front end of the car, this time we get to see how it looks at the back too. Mind you, there are no big surprises as the economy liftback adopts Scala-inspired headlights and taillights.

Official renderings typically look much more spectacular than the actual cars they preview and we believe this will be the case with Russia’s new Skoda Rapid too. Expect it to look slightly less sporty than in these images and to offer actual door handles.

At the front, the Skoda Rapid features arrow-shaped headlights with integrated DRLs in a crystal-like design. We can also spot LED fog lights and a sporty front bumper – though it’s likely we are looking at a range-topping version here.

The profile will be very similar to the outgoing model and, contrary to what these renders suggest, will feature door handles. At the rear, Skoda has gone for L-shaped horizontal LED taillights with crystal motifs that bring the 2020 Rapid in line with the Czech brand’s latest models.

The taillamps are divided into two sections: one integrated into the tailgate and another into the body. The rear end also features horizontal reflectors parallel to the taillights and Skoda lettering on the tailgate.

It’s not very clear whether the 2020 Skoda Rapid is an all-new model based on the MQB platform like the VW Virtus or a facelifted version that continues with the aging PQ25 architecture. The new Skoda Rapid will be unveiled in Russia before the end of the year.
